I finished the Boston Marathon in 2014 and I turned 59 the next day!! To me it was the most important marathon in the US - taking back that day for Boston. I could not have done it without the Saturday coaching sessions and planned long runs and the fellowship provided by the Marathon Coalition. I have also worked with Rick privately and he encouraged me through a really bad cold that kept me in bed for two weeks, and a stress fracture in my toe about 6 weeks prior to the race. |
Charity runners finish at a higher percentage than any other marathon runner, and Marathon Coalition charity runners lead the way. The Marathon Coalition manages to make the impossible possible, from the training to the the nutrition, to the mental game it takes, creating a family and a safety net and the loudest cheering section on the course along the way. I went from never having run a mile to three years later having run two Boston Marathons (2012 & 2014). Coaches Rick, Paul, and Greg put their faith in every runner, from novices to iron men. They pushed me beyond any comfort zone I ever knew, and made me a marathoner … and a marathoner who raised more than $45,000 for uAspire and College Bound Dorchester, two nonprofits near and dear to my heart and theirs. |
